What about my town?
Type your town or ZIP code. You get one line on what matters there right now: a warning, a storm on the way, rain, or the next forecast.
For life-threatening weather, follow the National Weather Service and local officials.
Where the answer comes from
The most urgent thing comes first:
- a National Weather Service warning, watch or advisory in effect for that spot;
- a storm my tracker expects to reach it within the hour, with how far away it is and about when;
- rain falling there right now on radar, and lightning nearby;
- if none of that, the next period of the National Weather Service forecast.
The words for any warning come from the National Weather Service. My storm tracker gives timing and distance only. It doesn't decide what a storm is doing, and it can be wrong.
An answer can be a minute or two old; the time it was checked is shown with it. During a warning, a watch or an approaching storm, the answer updates every 2 minutes while the page is open.
